The 2025/26 season brought outstanding performances for ZTE FC, both at team level and in terms of individual statistics. Looking through the numbers, it is clear that our team produced impressive figures across several data analysis systems throughout the past campaign. This article is based on statistics from the Opta database.

Our team finished fifth in the Fizz Liga standings, but in many indicators we exceeded even this position. One such area was the percentage of successful passes, where we recorded outstanding figures both overall and in the attacking third.

We belonged to the league’s leading teams not only in passing accuracy, but also in the number of passes completed and in terms of possession. In several areas, our figures rivalled those of FTC and ETO, who fought until the very end for the championship title. Examples include average possession time and the number of passes made during those periods. In the opponent’s half, ZTE players were the most accurate of all, recording an 81.7% passing efficiency.

37% of our shots found the target, which was the third-best figure in the league. We achieved this despite being the second-highest team in terms of attempts from outside the penalty area. Alongside our attacking play, we also produced outstanding defensive numbers throughout the season. Our tackling efficiency of 46.9% was the best in the league.

Our team’s creative style of play was not only visible on the pitch but was also reflected in the statistics. In terms of successful passes in the attacking third, through balls, clear-cut chances created, and willingness to take on one-on-one duels, we consistently ranked among the league’s best.

Furthermore, we emerged victorious from a high percentage of the one-on-one situations we took on. Following successful dribbles, our team recorded the highest number of progressive carries during the season.

In the 2025/26 season, we produced outstanding numbers in terms of sprint volume as well, while our maximum speed statistics were even more remarkable. The three highest recorded speeds in the league were all achieved by ZTE players. The fastest player was Daniel Lima, who reached a speed of 9.83 m/s, equivalent to 35.39 km/h, on the pitch. Second and third place were claimed by David López and Joao Victor.

Our captain, Norbert Szendrei, was the true conductor of ZTE FC’s play during the 2025/26 season. He spent a total of 2,758 minutes on the pitch, which was the third-highest figure among outfield players. During this time, among midfielders, he completed the most passes and covered the greatest distance with the ball overall. Across the entire league, Szendrei recorded the most touches of the ball, and his teammates also looked for him with passes more often than any other player.

In terms of goals scored from outside the penalty area, Bence Kiss finished joint-top of the ranking, while Alen Skribek recorded the most shots on target. Our top scorer ended the season with nine goals, which is an impressive achievement in itself, but considering that he hit the woodwork the most times during the campaign (on five occasions), that number could have been significantly higher.

However, Skribek stood out not only with his finishing, but also played a key role in creating play. He was responsible for the third-most key passes in the league and also created the highest number of clear goal-scoring opportunities.

For anyone who followed ZTE FC’s matches, it is hardly surprising that our Brazilian attacker, Maxsuell, was among the players with the most dribbles. What is even more remarkable, however, is that this “cheeky” style of play was also combined with effectiveness, as among the TOP 3 players, his attempts resulted in successful dribbles at the highest rate.

The quiet engine of the midfield, Fabricio Amato, finished above the league average both in passing and defensive contributions. He delivered an outstanding performance in terms of both attacks stopped per match and duels won.

We operated with a relatively high defensive line, which was also reflected in this season’s defensive statistics. Despite this, the Csonka–Victory–Várkonyi–Calderón defensive unit produced outstanding numbers in blocks, clearances, and tackles.

Their performances also played a significant role in helping Bence Gundel-Takács finish the season with a joint league-high number of clean sheets.

Gundel-Takács Bence also made the most saves in the 25/26 season. He recorded a save efficiency of 72.1%, which was the highest figure among goalkeepers who made at least 100 saves during the campaign. Behind Popovych, he collected the second-most crosses, and he also punched away crosses inside the penalty area more often than any other goalkeeper.

Without aiming to be exhaustive, these are some of the outstanding performances that contributed to our team not only exceeding expectations in terms of expected points, but also achieving its best result of the past 15 years.
